The Wrath of Poseidon

The Wrath of Poseidon art quilt by Marilyn Belford

The Wrath of Poseidon (2011)

Poseidon, God of the waters was an angry and jealous God, demanding extreme obeisance. He was also called the “Earth-shaker”. When offended or ignored, he supposedly struck the ground with his trident and caused chaotic springs, earthquakes, drownings, and shipwrecks.

  1. Marilyn: These are all so awesome! I am a long-time student of QU and have taken your Realistic Portraits class twice… each time creating a pet portrait…cat first, and then dog. But I am also an avid student of Mythology, having conducted workshops and published a book of rather amatuer paintings of Goddesses in Women’s lives. I have long dreamed of doing a mythology quilt, but seeing yours makes me both more inspired and also afraid to try, as I know mine would be so far inferior to these exquisite pieces. I am planning to take your class once more this October, before QU ends. (So sad)… but I look forward to maybe giving this a try there. Thanks so much for your great classes and examples! ~Karin Weiss
